This training explains how to add or edit exercises and exercise protocols. Performing this setup optimizes your time for prescribing, recommending, and editing exercises.

Exercises

There are three tabs to this setup: Protocols, which are collections of exercises, and Exercises, which are specific exercises that can be assigned to body regions or protocols and Resistance which is where you can add the bands or weights that are used during exercises.
Exercises are on the second tab, but this is the best place to start when performing this setup.
The Exercises window is broken down into four main sections, described below.
Exercises do not have to belong to specific protocols to be searched and used. In addition to belonging to protocols, they can stand alone or be assigned to one or more body regions.

The top left portion of the window has three filters:
- Search field : Enter the exercise name, or a word in the name, and click the Magnifying Glass icon
- All Body Regions: Use the pull-down selector to see Description and # Exercises
- All Protocols: Use the pull-down selector to see Description, Region, and # Exercises
Exercises can be counted in multiple regions or protocols. The # of Exercises indicates how many are assigned to each.

Filters cascade. For example, if the body regions filter is Neck then the protocols will be filtered by that body region. If there are multiple protocols for a body region, they can be selected using the pull-down selector.

Below the filters is the list of exercises, which are ordered alphabetically. Click the Add New Exercise button to add an exercise and it will automatically locate alphabetically in the list.

When you select an exercise, the name of the exercise is highlighted and appears in the Description box. Below that, the body region to which it is assigned is shown with a checkmark. You can assign an exercise to more than one region.
The far right panel displays the exercise description again and the checked boxes represent the protocols to which it is assigned.
To remove an exercise completely, right click on it in the far left panel and click Delete.

The section below body regions and protocols allows you to enter vital information about the default details for each exercise. Entering information here significantly improves the efficiency of creating treatment plans. When you've created a specific plan, each field can be edited on the fly depending on the patient's condition, but having the defaults makes it so you do not have to enter the basics about each exercise when you're creating plans.
- Sets: This describes the default number of sets for the exercise
- Min/Set: This time value of minutes per set is simply an estimate that is used to calculate the overall amount of time it will take to perform exercises prescribed for a patient. The time is not part of the documentation, but it is a vital part of helping you fine tune treatment plans as you build them
- Reps/Time: Enter the number of repetitions or length of time for the exercise. This is a text field and what you enter will display on the documentation
- Resistance: Use this field to describe the default resistance, if applicable
- Rest: This is a length of time to rest between sets, if you choose to include it
- Laterality: Enter a check in this box if the exercise can be performed on one side at a time. You can set the laterality to L (left), R (right), or B (both) when creating the plan

If Image icon is showing next to an Exercise it will display an image in Starting Position and Movements. If no image is showing you can click the upload icon and upload a picture for that Exercise.

Protocols

Review existing protocols or create new ones for your practice. Notice the summary above the list of exercises that shows the number of exercises and the total time, which comes from the sum of the Min/Set values of the exercises listed in the protocol. Right click to delete an exercise. Edit any of the fields: Sets, Min/Set, Reps/Time, Resistance, Rest, and Laterality on this window.
To add or remove exercises from a specific protocol, click the Add Exercise button at the bottom of the window.
Editing fields (Sets, Min/Set, etc.) in this window follows two rules:
- If the exercise has not been previously modified, the values you add on the Protocol window will update the exercise default values
- If the exercise has default information, the modification on the specific protocol will be updated, but the default for the exercise itself is not

The Region selector shows regions descriptions and number of protocols for each. The Protocols selector shows exercises in the protocol, including the descriptions, the body region, and the number of exercises in the protocol.
Modify Existing Protocols

When you click Add Exercise on the main Protocol tab, a window opens showing all exercises by region on the left panel and protocol specifics on the right. Choose the body region in the top box on the left, then enter a keyword in the search box and click the Magnifying Glass icon to filter the list of exercises below. Or, scroll through the exercises, which are listed alphabetically.
On the right, select the protocol to modify using the pull down selector under Protocols.
Use the arrows between the panels to move exercises on or off of the protocol. The double arrow icons move all items in the panel to the other.
Click the Add Exercise button to add an exercise that is not in the system.
To return to the main protocols window, click the X.
Add New Protocols

There are two ways to add protocols:
- Click the + sign to add
- Click the Copy (two pages) icon to copy an existing protocol and modify

Click on the + sign to add a new protocol. The first step is to enter a description for the protocol. Then select the body region. Click Save to continue.

Copying an existing protocol and modifying it is another way to add protocols.
- Click the Copy icon
- Enter the name of the new protocol
- Click Save
Modify the protocol and click the X icon to return to the main protocol screen.
